Imagine walking into your dentist’s office and the person at the desk looks up, smiles, and says with cheer, “Good morning Mr. Kok. It is good to see you. How have you been?” Then she adds, “That is a nice looking sweater. Can I offer you a bottle of water or some coffee?” (That has never happened to me. Usually I feel like I am interrupting the person at the window, or I just sign in, and take a seat.) Likewise on departure, I would be blessed by a “Thank you for coming in today. We appreciate your patronage.” The Care and Kindness campaign aims to help that dentist’s office scenario become SOP (standard office procedure). Our hope is to attract the attention of people in business and in professions like dentistry, medicine, or law. We have designed workshops, led by people who work with folks in the everyday business world. Rebecca Caldwell works at Disneyland—Mark Harris is in Customer relations with Alchemy. Rebecca and Mark will equip and inspire those who meet people every day and want badly to do it in a more winning way. It takes three seconds to look at a person’s face and say “Good Morning, nice to see you.” There is not one business stop—grocery store, Staples, Home Depot, Plant Nursery, or Post Office where the service personnel couldn’t easily spend that instant and deliver those goods.
